Hi, I've been show this data from BCC website and wondered if anyone knew whether they'll give the same data for last year as they have for the previous year? Here's the link

I'm intrigued to see the children who scored 120 why 20% of them weren't successful at the selection review and how much of an impact the HT recommendations have. Do we think BCC aren't going to release that information now?

I know the amount of people going down a SR has grown massively recently.

No looking for more detail. 2017 data has it broken down even more. It shows each individual score and what the HT recommendation score was. Which gives a good indication on why they weren't successful.

They publish exactly the same data every year. The 2017 data was published on 13th November 2017, so I would expect to see the 2018 data fairly shortly.

I know of a few cases at 120 that didn’t get through. In my opinion it was due the academic evidence being strong enough , a long with the HT recommendations being what the had hoped for ie 2:3 or 3:3. Dolly x

You are 2 weeks too early, same as me! That's the information I want too. The link at the start of this thread has all the up to date stats. Hopefully around the 13th Nov they'll include last year's.

I think I have the answer for you - see the attached analysis of the 2017 Review outcomes.

The success rate for Reviews on the top 5 score points differs considerably between In County & Partner schools on the one hand, and Out of County schools on the other.

The reason for that is that the In County & Partner School HTRs are completed before the 11+ results are known, and are therefore a more objective measure of a child's suitability for grammar school. Out County Heads are perhaps more likely to over-egg the pudding!

I haven't looked at any other years, but I am pretty certain that the same pattern would emerge. (I will do the analysis for the 2018 stats though, because I very much want to know what lies behind the additional 300 cases.)
