Re: Bucks County Council transport consultation now live
I have to say that it's not much of a consultation "would you mind your children getting a public bus?" And "do you think SEN children and people from Over should pay for transport"

Public buses are not an option in rural areas.
Re: Bucks County Council transport consultation now live
Exactly. There is no public bus to my DS's school either and we aren't rural.

Did you read the analysis scary mum?
https://democracy.buckscc.gov.uk/docume ... tation.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Page 4 says:
* 14.8% go to an upper school that is not the nearest appropriate school
* 78.9% go to a grammar school that is not the nearest appropriate school
The only way to interpret the 78.9% is that they are counting any secondary as someone's 'nearest'.

Yes they are, that changed some time ago. When DS1 went it was the nearest grammar if you qualified by the time of DS2 it was the nearest school. As there are a lot more uppers than grammars so you are far more likely to be closest to an upper.

Yes I know they changed it some years back but this data is misleading those that don't understand the current 'rules'.

Yup we pay regardless . Don’t particularly want the public bus as it’s almost full already and is generally late arriving at school. However the bus pass for the school bus keeps increasing year by year. Next year I’ll have two to pay for . Dolly xx

I know this won't be popular to point out, but in my county there is no free transport, no matter how rural you are. Everyone here pays for transport apart from those on very low incomes who get 'help' with it. And we are a large county with many rural areas and many children who have a long way to go to school. So count yourselves lucky that you get anything at all!
