Clement Danes vs Becky high

DD didn't qualify and waiting for SR, which is a long shot as she got sub 115. She's got a good chance of a music place at SCD . Which order should I put them on the CAF form? We liked both equally ( and none of her friends are going to either) so really stuck!! :(

If SCD is (almost) certain, then putting it first means that if you are offered it, even if your review is successful, the potential place at the grammar has 'gone away', as you got a higher preference.

If you really prefer the grammar, put it above SCD. If the review is successful, you get the grammar, if it's not, you get SCD. If review successful but you don't get the grammar for not ranking high enough on distance or whatever, you at least go on the waiting list.

Thanks for your quick reply. It's a tough decision because we are well in catchment for 2 gs so that's not an issue. Like every parent the worry is that a less favourable/borderline 11+ score is telling me there might be a less happy time in a gs.
If only I had a crystal ball!

Perhaps consider other factors then. What about co-ed or girls? Which can she most easily and independently travel to? I would not worry about her test score in this context unless you feel she was punching above her weight to achieve it. Anyone can have an off day and my teacher friends tell me score does not correlate with subsequent performance anyway. Personally given the choice I would go for SCD if all else was equal.

This is a great reply with which I happen to agree. She definitely had an off day, rather than stretching to achieve the score, from what the school say. But everything else is equal: transport ease, etc. I've worried a little about co-ed in the past but she's confident in herself, bright and can hold her own . Thank you so much.
