....can anyone out there tell me whether there are any school buses (ie private school coaches rather than the normal public bus) that run between Maidenhead and John Hampden or RGS in High Wycombe.

I know a child who catches a mini bus from Maidenhead to JH.
So there is a service there, but unfortunately I don't know all the details.
Perhaps you can contact the schools directly and ask them for details.
