Advice for Torbay

Hi this is my first post although I've been lurking for a while and have been very impressed with the amount of information on this Forum - I can see it's going to be a bit of a lifeline over the next few years! My DS is currently in Year 4 and doing very well so we're definitly hoping that he will take the 11+. At the moment he's very keen to take it which is bonus :D I'll be tutoring him myself so just wondered if anyone has any advice on preparing for the Torbay 11+, e.g. what papers are best and any tips others have found useful. I know I've got a bit of time, but as it's all new to me I want to make sure I'm as prepared as possible for when he starts Yr 5. Also as he is so keen and curious about it all I was thinking about starting some informal tuition quite soon (no papers, but just trying to extend his numeracy and literacy skills, increase his vocab and maybe try some VR type activites.) Any tips would be gratefully received! Thank you!

p.s. In spite of my name I'm not really at all stormy - I'm just useless at thinking up internet names and it happened to be one of those days where the wind and rain didn't stop all day when I was choosing.

Welcome to the forum Storm.
It sounds like you have some good ideas for home tuition without resorting to practise papers.
Hopefully someone will be along shortly with some information specific to your region.

Thanks for the welcome. I have had one very useful PM, but would love to hear from anyone else who is down this way. Even if you have no more idea what you're doing than I do it would still be great to have someone to compare experiences with! :D
