Torbay Practice Stuff

Well, it's only 25 or so days to go to the first 11+ and my stress levels are on DEFCON1. Just hope the little one doesn't pick up this too much.

I am specifically looking for practice questions specifically on the English and Maths side of the Torbay (Churston & Tqy Girls) 11+. I have used up to the 4th Bond papers (books) for English and maths. Are these at about the right level?
Also, I am a little confused about the English paper in terms of what is included - any help here would be appreciated.

Reasonably confident that her VR skills are now OK. Have used up to 5th papers and more 5th papers. Are these at about the right level?

Thanks,

Kevin.

Hi Kevin,
The papers you're using are fine. We used these for a 12+ test after foolishly believing that hours of practice weren't necessary for 11+ (and getting away with it on several occasions with consecutive children until recently!).
We also visited a couple of web sites which explained some "methods" for certain questions, that said - none of our children ever came across anything too unusual in the tests.
You do need to be up to speed with creative writing; check out the teacher marking systems at the back of the practice papers books. Evaluate some of your DDs work based on the criteria to check her usual achievement level.
Have you used any NFER papers? We also used these for the 12+. Good luck.
P.S. We were successful at 12+ for both schools: TQ and CN, so the practice books must have had some use!

Hi Katie,
Thankl for the reply. The creative writing part is worrying me somewhat. I have looked online for some examples of types of things to practice, but have drawn a blank so far.
I have used the NFER VR practice papers and have gotten some good marks from her. In fact I have just about run out of verbal reasoning practice meterial!
Hoping to get in to CN. 10 days to go to the first test.
Regards,
Kevin.
