Funny enough the lady also said this is the 1st year both schools have sat at the same time & I thought that it was last year but I didn't have the fight in me anymore to push it :)

I found the following info on the Poole admissions website & I phoned them to confirm. Data for those who started year 7 this September 2013:

Poole

Met Academic Standard: 208
Places Offered: 168
Poole Resident: 131
Non-Poole: 35

That was before the appeals. The headteacher told me at the open evening that the appeals had pushed the numbers to about 178 (something like that. I remember it was 170 something).

It would have been helpful to have had the actual cut off scores tho :?

Parkstone Girls:

Met Academic Standard: 197
Places Offered: 168
Poole Resident: 124
Non-Poole: 44

Russet - All the best to your DD. Weird though. It would have made sense to have released them at the same time as the boys. The DD's in my DS's school are finding the wait pretty tough considering the boys have their results...

The pass mark last year was 110, so I wonder if raising it to 110.5 will have reduced the numbers found eligible this year? 208 eligible seems high compared with the numbers that used to pass the 12+

Wow that is high in comparison. Well spotted on the .5
I hadn't even noticed!! It would be interesting to see if it makes a difference.

Just noticed...the pass mark for the 12+ was 116.5 & the pass mark for the 11+ was 110 which could perhaps explain the difference in qualifying numbers. So now they'v increased the 11+ by .5 but I don't how much difference that will make. This is all enough to drive one mad lol

BSG results are in today.

What is nice is that they don't tell the girls scores to those that have met the standards. This means they are on a level playing field when they start and none are feeling superior.

My DD met the required standard which we were worried about as she said she found the VR very hard on the day. 188 did get the standard for 166 places. Of those quite a few will have also passed the Parkstone Exam so hopefully all those that passed and wants a place will get in.

We hope so, as we are also out of catchment, but with DS already at BS then it would make life so much easier.

Congratulations Verwoody :D

Just got our letter, and my dd has also 'met the required standard' at BSG. She thought the VR paper was fine, but didn't think she'd done very well with the English one!

Lovely to see this board becoming slightly more active this week. 8)
