We've just been tipped off that they've changed the exams for this year!? They just say exams in Maths and English now!?

My sons Verbal reasoning was his weakest but he sat a paper last night and got just over 90% after gradually improving. Now it looks like they have dropped it. But it doesn't state what papers they are sitting or who makes them.

Stress!!

Anyone have any more info?

Doesn't help! Would be reasonable to ask if multiple choice or write your answer format?

If all multi-choice would eliminate a written piece.

If you read page http://www.bournemouth-school.org/admissiontests it does state that the tests will be multiple choice and there is an English written paper too.

Thanks Smudge! The is a lot clearer than the download I looked at.

We only found out about the change as a friend past on the info from their tutor. Like a few kids, our son isn't having a tutor so we might never have known about the change.

On the plus side, my son drops 1 or 2 points on the maths papers at most so his overal score should be proportionally higher now that the VR has been dropped.

We attended the Bournemouth School open evening last night and having spoken to the head master it does appear that the Maths portion of the entry exam will now make up 50% of the final mark with the English and written paper joined to make the other 50%.

So thats certainly helped our son who is very strong on the maths side.
