Very happy that DD has been allocated CCHS, ranked early 90's with the following raw scores
English 31
Maths 24
VR 63
A friend of hers is ranked early 120's but hasn't got in (don't know her exact scores). Seen previous posts here which say that girls with a ranking in the 140's are in? I'm very confused, can anyone explain
Thanks

I would imagine the parents have told her she only just missed out. They probably don't want anyone to know her scores.
A ranking in the 120's has always been offered a CCHS place as long as I have been using these forums.

Nutkin, Notley Parent's DD as been offered Colchester with a ranking of 149. I assume NP this is correct. I don't think there is other criteria apart from the ranking.NOTLEY PARENTS wrote:Your child’s raw scores in the three tests are as follows:
English Score 34/50
Mathematics score 24/45
Verbal Reasoning Score 52/80
These three results are adjusted to take account of any variations in the difficulty of
different papers each year and combined to produce your child's overall, standardised,
weighted score of: 329.541

DD has been allocated Colchester. Very very pleased but also a little baffled. I thought the difference between the two places (Colchester and Chelmsford) was about 30 but it seems to be higher (a lot, over 100).
I know someone who was on the waiting list last year ranked about 150 that was offered a place several weeks later so how come we have got in??? Anyone?

Yes my lovely DD has been offered Colchester at 149. I have spoken to the CSSE, I rung about transport and thought Id ask a few things. Last year the cut off point for Colchester was 145 but they do not know yet what it is for this year. Obviously above 149 or my daughter may have just got in thankfully being the last one!!. More will follow when the waiting list gets going next week I expect. It will be different for Chelmsford and other schools.

Thanks NOTLEY PARENTS. Very helpful. From previous experience (Yr 11 WHSB and yr 9 KEGS) the boy's Colchester lists hardly moved after the initial allocation. Which means fewer people give up their places for whatever reason. I suspect geography is a factor as in N Essex, Chelmsford is doable but not the Southend schools.NOTLEY PARENTS wrote:Yes my lovely DD has been offered Colchester at 149. I will monitor the ColCHS waiting list but we are delighted with WHSG as is our daughter.
