westcliffmum that is very worrying isn't it. Such a shame with so many wanting to get into grammars. Just shows you how the intake can vary from year to year. It's probably best to look at all the schools, decide which one is best suited to your child and put that first without worrying too much about admission numbers. They are all excellent schools. :D

Fran17, I couldn't agree more! We are so lucky to have the Grammars here in Southend but it is a clearly defined system with a clearly defined 'pass' mark. If our DC's don't reach that , then they don't get a place. The intake figures are in no way a reflection on the school - just the number of children that reach the criteria. SHSG is an excellent choice of school for any girl, whether from in or out of borough. If you prefer that school, put it as your first choice!
