Wondering if someone is able to clarify this please.

If there are a given number of places at a grammar, eg 120, how can a lower place be offerred on results day? I understand that the cut off lowers as candidates placed 1-120 turn down GS places for other options but I cant get my head round how this happens on 1st March?

I am sure some knowledgable person will enlighten me!

presumably you are referring to the top 120 ranked? Not everyone who is in the top 120 will have put that school firts on the CAF and hence will have been offered elsewhere instead
