Colchester County High School - uniform supplier

Post by Minesatea »

Colchester County High School are changing their uniform from September. As an existing pupil we have heard little yet! I have just been told however that this years new starters pack states that Uniform must be bought from Coes in Ipswich. The current supplier is Ernest Newson in Colchester. I have been trying to buy a tracksuit top for some weeks and EN have received no more stock, so this change in supplier may explain things.

Can anyone confirm this for me please.

Hi

Yes, you are right, the supplier is definitely changing to Coes. This certainly relates to the new uniform but I'm not sure about the existing one (my other daughter who is in year 9 has the choice of the old or new and is adamant that she will stick with the old one!!). Not sure where we get that from though in the future.

The new starter pack doesn't give any info re changeover plans (obviously !) but does say the the Coes uniform will not be available until the end of June.

Hope this helps.

Thanks. I believe the PE kit isn't changing - does it say if that will now come from Coes as well?

I suspect it will be a case of Ernest Newson while stocks last - after that girls may have to change unless they can survive in what they have until the end of year 11. I doubt any more will be made.

The uniform list read as if it would all be from Coes, so maybe both for PE kit for a while until EN run out of stock.
I looked on Coe's website, but no info there yet. It sounded like it would not be available until summer, with it available to try on/order at the June information evening.

It sounds like a much smarter uniform than the old one.

until EN run out of stock.
The problem is they already have run out of some stuff - unless I want to put my small 12 year old in a tracksuit top that reaches her knees
It sounds like she will have to wait until June.

(Note for new starters - the PE kit used to say either tracksuit top or pale blue sweatshirt, we went for the sweatshirt (cheaper and warmer) only to discover she has to have a tracksuit top if picked to represent the school - and now can't get one!)
It sounds like a much smarter uniform than the old one.
Please post any info you have - we have not seen it yet or received any information. The girls apparently have but all they tell us is that its horrible!

ok, looking at the list now.

For PE kit, it says basic PE kit must be purchased from Coes.
Navy blue PE shorts, Navy polo shirt, sky blue tracksuit top and/or sky blue sweatshirt with logo. Navy tracksuit bottoms with white stripe - so sounds like no change for this.

Uniform:

Navy Blazer with logo on pocket, only from Coes
pale blue blouse short or long sleeve, open neck style. Can be from any retailer. If in yr 10 or 11 you can wear a 3/4 sleeve fitted blue blouse.
Trousers - dark navy, classic style, can be from any retailer
Skirt - Kilt style, navy, grey and white tartan, only from Coes
Cardigan - Navy with pale blue stripes at the cuffs, only from Coes.

Hope that helps, sounds nice to me, more like CCHS uniform.

Thankyou.

Yes the PE kit sounds similar (we have a skort as well). I agree that the uniform sounds nice however the existing girls don't seem keen. At the moment trousers are rarely worn, it will be interesting to see if this changes.

They had the same reaction at ChCHS as well, but they all wear the kilts & quite like it now. A few trousers about, but not that many. Certainly looks a lot smarter than before. DD1 & DD2 have been comparing Ch & Co uniforms and debating who's going to look smarter. Just the start of the rivalry I think  !

Trousers...mmm yes, I have been locking horns with my daughter since the pack came through from Colchester, she read with delight that trousers were still an option. I really want her to wear the skirt, it sounds nice and will no doubt look so smart. Trouble is she is a bit of a tomboy, doesnt even own a dress or a skirt!
I am crossing my fingers she will change her mind once she gets chatting with her new classmates and they (hopefully) all say they are going to wear the new skirt.
