Hi all,

Has anyone received any info on times, content, etc., for ColCHS induction day? We haven't heard anything other than what was in the initial welcome pack and with it only 5 days away I'm getting a bit concerned as will need to make arrangements to get DD there and back.

Any info welcome !

Thanks

Mclm.

With regards to times it was a normal school day last year and as DD has been asked by a neighbour to escort her daughter I am assuming the same this year. I think other info was probably given at the parent and daughter evening - ? thursday.

I remember the school recommending that the girls travel the same way as they will in September so as to use it as a trial run. Groups of older students were arranged to escort them to the correct buses at the end of the day.

No futher info as far as I know, I think it is just a normal school day. We are planning to use the bus, I called the consortium transport office and they said just pay on the bus. I'm wondering whether to send DD in her school uniform or not?.... I assume that they can pay for a school meal in cash on the day... hoping to check these things on the parent's evening this Thursday.

Last year it was definitely non uniform and yes the canteen operates on a cash system. I seem to remember the girls being asked if they intended to eat in the canteen on induction day at the evening event - presumably so they could judge for numbers .

Thanks minesatea and sleeplessinhalstead, glad I haven't just missed the post !

Seems a little disorganised, particularly for those of us that work & have to make arrangements, but I'm sure all will be fine on the day.

Almost as excited as DD is about the whole thing :-)

Appreciate your help. Thanks again.

I have consulted with DD and we think the format of last years induction evening was as follows:

Tours of school in groups by current pupils (this is definitely happening again this year as DD is involved)
Girls and parents labelled ! by form group and sit in the hall in correct quarter.
Variety of staff introduce themselves and give speeches.
Selection of year 7's demonstrate the correct and wrong ways to wear the uniform! (also happening this year)
Girls then go to form room with future class teacher while parents go to canteen and taste food :D
Then swap so parents go to classroom, get more forms, meet form teacher and girls go to canteen to try what is left of the food!

It was a very helpful evening.

Sounds exciting! When I spoke to COLCHS this week I was told no school uniform on induction day just casual wear. I have also spoken to CSSE and have been told that my DD can get the school bus and that's she's to pay on the day. Guess they will tell us more on Thursday evening.

:D
