we went to CCHS today and were informed the waiting list would not differentiate between catchment and out of catchment. other than that they just went with their figures given with our results and said they were right despite several people questioning their validity.

I was also at the CCHS meeting today and heard the advice about the waiting list which suggested that there would be no differentiation between catchment and non-catchment candidates. However I think that I read on their website that if a catchment child declined their place it would be offered to the child in catchment with the next highest score, and the same for a non-catchment place.

That would make more sense. Last year about 15 offers were made off the waiting list. If there were no differentiation for the waiting list, this would turn into a nonsense. Eg, 24 offers would be made to OCC on March 1st, but then if 15 girls dropped out from incatchment (highly unlikely) these would all go to high scoring OCC... so taking the number of OCC up to 39?!! It has to be: if an ICC drops out the next highest scoring ICC gets the place and if OCC drops out the next highest scoring OCC gets the place to keep the 80% : 20% ratio.
