The standard for 1 to 1 tuition in central Essex is £20 per hour. Sometimes £30 for gcse and beyond.

That includes most, if not all, materials.

However, tutors are very hard to find!

Education: 0
Tuition: 0
Books/Exam Papers/Downloaded Material/Sundry Items: £270

I'm a "belts-and-braces" gal, so I purchased loads of books, both new and secondhand - allowing DD to have as much variety and experience as possible from my tutoring . You don't necessarily need to spend this much, so don't panic! A chunk of about £70 of this was spent on downloadable tests.

Many of the books have a much longer "shelf-life" than merely the 11+ and so will be used for a good many years for various areas of DD's education. The vast majority will be sold-on, as they're in pristine condition - so I'll re-coup quite a bit of this financial outlay :D
