Head teacher has asked for her scores to be checked. We should know soon.

A remark could lead to a change of score, but an appeal is different isn't it? An appeal could apply even if the 232 was "correct" in the sense of her performance on the day, but would be based on her academic ability demonstrated by other evidence?

I don't know the raw scores (aside from knowing that in all cases English is the lowest with lots scoring 13/14/15), but in DC's year alone, I know of...

Just been to parents evening, my DS is being put forward for level 6 Maths.
Still bitter that the results don't reflect his true ability.

Hi I couldn't see one for 2013, I just got email she got 255.696. Do you think she'd have any chance for St Bernard, we are out of catchment but Catholic?

This was the breakdown of admissions for 2013, according to the Southend on Sea guidance booklet for secondary admissions:

Selective pupils 11
Catholic pupils within the area 89
Catholic pupils outside the area 2
Other baptised Catholics 25
Non-Catholic girls in Public Care 0

Christian pupils attending Catholic primary schools 1
Other Christian pupils 18
Other faith pupils 4
Non-Christian pupils 0
Pupils with statements of SEN 1
For admissions to Year 7 in September 2013 the last child was admitted under admission criterion (i) - Other Faith
Pupils
Details for appeals lodged, heard and successful will be published in September 2013. (data as on 1st May 2013


So basically all RC girls for whom St Bernard's was the highest ranked school for which they qualified (IYSWIM!) got a place. If you are Category C - out of area RC with a priest's letter, or however they word it, you should have no problem. Have a look at St B's website.
