QE vs CRGS

Post by su1920 »

Just want to get some views/opinions from parents who have very good knowledge of these two schools. I hear different views and opinions about these schools. I see CRGS is recommended over QE.
I also see at GCSE/A level QE performed well in 2013?

As you say there are a couple of threads under way already with opinions on CRGS and one of these refers to a thread elsewhere on QE which I guess you might find helpful.
Can see you are looking for anyone who has experience of both schools but there are a few of us CRGS parents about here if you have specific questions.

Thanks

I am wondering whether people travel to crgs from Chelmsford as this is something that bothers me - am working in the city and don't want to commute long hours. How long does the bus take from Chelmsford to crgs? Many thanks for any input

Someone posted a link a few days ago on a different thread but apparently the CSSE web site has details of travel from Chelmsford to CRGS - guess exact time will depend on exactly where you are but at least the bus goes in the right way to Colchester.

The train journey from Colchester to the City is probably quicker than the bus journey from Chelmsford to Colchester.
Or a compromise of Witham maybe?

The two schools are so distant from each other geographically that you may not find many parents who would have even considered applying to both. It is therefore difficult to get any opinion on this question. I hear that QE is all about high pressure environment, but some patents really like the school and the results it produces. Most important is how well the DS will thrive in a particular school environment. Looking at everything, We have sort of made up our mind on CERGS despite the fact that it will entail moving to Colchester from North London.
