The school website mentions:
School Results 2013

A Level: Percentage of pupils achieving A*/A/B 93%
I may be wrong but the results dont seem to be as impressive as last years'. Anybody knows what's going on here?

Do you know what the figure was for last year?

Do you know what this figure actually means? - students who obtained a least a B in all subjects?

2012 was 95%. The difference is 3 pupils!

I was under the impression (don't know why) that they were closer to 99%, clearly that's not the case. Thanks for the clarification.

I don't think you can get any better than the top of the league tables 5 years running.

When you are talking about approximately one student = 1% then I would suggest that this doesn't say very much that is of use.

I am sure they could get the figure up by stopping students from entering for exams where they are borderline B/C but I don't see that would help the students very much.

What it all comes down to is which school does the best job for the individual student - and this wont be the same school in every case.

I love the 'celebratory pastry' quote by Mr Jenkinson in the article :)

KB - totally agree, I would hate it is DS was denied entry to an exam if it was felt he might score a B, or even an A and not an A star ... heaven forbid.

I thought the quote was brilliant too, when we got DS's result via email we drove to Simply M and S and celebrated with a fresh donut.

It's Ok because like birthday cake all celebratory food is calorie free

apology for diverting the thread in a cake themed direction - strange how easily one is diverted in that direction .....

In the oft quoted (in our house, anyway) words of Big Ears in the Butlins Noddy production circa 2003..... "Cake? Did someone say 'CAKE' ?!!" :D
