The sixth form is really quite big - 180 per year. We were amazed last night at how many new people were at the new comers social evening and how many girls.

Its not that long ago they only took in 30 external applicants and just a few years ago there were only 16 girls in my DC's year. Has certainly grown! Imagine that makes it easier for new entrants.
Do hope your DD enjoys it.

Does anyone know if the funding for the new classrooms was ever agreed?
PAN for this intake is 120 but parents of DS's friends are concerned it may drop back to 96 next year if the building doesnt go ahead. Presumably they cant keep shoehorning in extra classes, DS1 says his sixthform classroom is too small to hold enough chairs for his form at registration!

In that case, you have nothing to lose by putting CRGS above QE, because if he doesn't get CRGS, he will get QE. You would then have to decide whether to stay on the waiting list for Colchester if your DS would still prefer it, especially if you need to be moving house in the meantime.

I went to the KEGS meeting the other day and the Head said he would urge anyone in the 330s to put it as a choice if they like the school as you can't tell exactly where the cut off be. I would imagine the same applies to CRGS especially as there are extra places this year.

For KEGS, I suppose the Head was talking about the I/C application, when he was saying to apply anyone in the 330s?
