Your boys will be popular when there are evening activities to get back for - and prepare yourselves for the 6th form

So pleased to see that there will be lots of local boys! We also live a v short walk from the school. My DS is already working out how much longer in bed he will get each morning...

A few years ago now but think we got most of it at the new parents evening in the summer term.
Lots of CRGS parents around on here so feel free to post any questions in the meantime.
Also have a look on the school web site - lots of info and also details of 'open' events that your DS might like to attend eg science Saturday coming up:

‘EQUINOX SCIENCE FAIR 2014’ – Saturday 22nd March, 1.00 – 4.30 p.m.
The ‘Equinox Science Fair’ is now in its sixth year and will consist of practical demonstrations and activities by
CRGS students in the Hall, to raise awareness of and interest in science. There will be a series of mini-lectures
by sixth-form students taking the brief of ‘Teach your parents some science!’ This year we will also have a
large portable ‘Star dome’ on site. This will give audiences of 40 people at a time a tour through the Universe
and night sky. Although the event itself is free of charge to attend, there will be a small entry fee to the ‘Star
dome’.

and the Spring Concert

another tip is to look at the 'letters to parents' section.

milada wrote:KB, thank you for the useful information. I will have a look on the website. DS has a music concert all morning Saturday 22nd until 12:30 but we might attempt travelling to Colchester after that's over. Will he miss a lot if we are not there for the opening of the science fair? :(

it runs all afternoon - with 'exhibitions' and talks running throughout so am sure he will get to see interesting stuff whatever time you get there.

As much as anything it is a chance to become more familiar with the surroundings and maybe a few faces so the whole first day thing is less scary.

And remember that the boys doing displays and talks are the keen science students so don't be too overawed by it all!

Just hand delivered the acceptance form - not taking any chances! Disappointed we did not get a pack load of information like we did from ColCHS when DD started! It is ages until June!
