I think CEM was about 75% for in catchment. The CSSE score for in catchment is 303, I believe that hasn't changed despite the exam changing. I don't know what the maximum score for the CSSE was (not the score that was achieved but what score was possible) so no idea what percentage 303 equates to but I believe it's around the 60% mark....pushymother wrote:Looking at a past sticky; the in catchment CSSE score needed to be 50% or above but that was before the changes....
Has a more mathematically minded person worked out what % of correct answers one needed on the CSSE for the Southend girls schools and CCHS for the 2014 entry in catchment?
Yes, I am feeling OCD about it all but don't have the maths skills to work it out!! I am right brained and leave the maths to DH but he refuses to encourage my obsessions.
Wow was it really that high for CEM - feeling a very proud mummy againtalea51 wrote:I think CEM was about 75% for in catchment. I am sure someone with more knowledge than me will be along soon!
It was, if (and it's a big if) 143 is the theoretical maximum that one could score on the paper and not the highest mark scored. If it was the highest mark scored but the theoretical maximum was higher, then the percentage will be lower but going with 143 being the theoretical maximum then I think that around 75% is about right for in catchment.Araucana girl wrote:Wow was it really that high for CEM - feeling a very proud mummy againtalea51 wrote:I think CEM was about 75% for in catchment. You are right of course.Morgan0210 wrote:Hi,
For Southend incatchment in the past your child would need to score roughly over half on each paper, however as things are changing this year I have no idea how the marking will sorry x
I read on here quite some time ago and I'm afraid I can't remember what the thread was called otherwise I'd find it for you, that you need to bank on them dropping around 20% in marks on the day of the exam due to nerves and tiredness. I certainly know some dcs who didn't drop anything like that and some who didn't drop anything at all but my dd dropped around 25% on the day.pushymother wrote:You are right of course.Morgan0210 wrote:Hi,

I suppose if I can get her scoring at least 70% on mock tests we should be ok......
