KEGS or CCHS parents - school trip question...

Apologies as this is not an 11+ question... however I don't know who else to ask!

I have children starting KEGS and CCHS this September and they were keen on finding out whether these schools ran ski trips for Y7 students and are they normally in February half term?

It may sound crazy to ask now but if we decide to go as a family in the Feb half term, the best value accommodation tends to get booked up very early so I wouldn't mind knowing in advance.

Have you tried checking the school web site including old photos and past letters to parents?
Usually ( as in, not at those schools in paricular) such trips are very popular to may not be open to year 7s or may but book a year in advance with the same result.

Oh, I love rummaging around websites when I really should be getting on with something else

From the CCHS site (a letter sent out last Feb):

1st February 2013
Dear Parents,
SKI TRIP – STUBAI GLACIER, AUSTRIA - 2014 – Open to students currently in years 7,8,9 and 11
Easter 2014 may be a long way away, however, if I am taking a Winter Sports Trip I need to start
organising now! Next year I propose to ski in the Stubai glacier region in Austria. The departure
date will be Saturday 5th April and we will return on Sunday 13th April. Travel will be by coach and
the cost covers transport, accommodation, tuition and hire of equipment including helmets. It does
not cover the cost of buying/hiring ski clothing, spending money or drinks with meals. Please note
that the wearing of ski helmets is obligatory for all participants.
The cost for the trip will be approximately £915 and is with Ardmore Travel Ltd, who we have used for over 15
years and who have always proved very reliable and helpful.
The girls will be supervised by staff throughout the trip and all skiing will be in lessons with qualified instructors.
The maximum number of girls on the trip will be 40.

So it would appear that girls in year 7 cannot go on the trip, but you will be invited to start paying for it in that year to go on it in year 8.

On the KEGS calendar, I found reference to a ski trip to Austria in February half term, £1380 - not sure how much more you get for the extra money there - "year group - "various".

You're welcome :)

I have to say the cost of the KEGS trip rather puts the £1645 that DS1 is hoping we will be willing to put up for next February's SHSG Science trip to Florida (Seaworld / Kennedy Space Centre / BCC Planetarium / Everglades and okay, a bit of sightseeing and shopping in Miami) into perspective, though

Fortunately, none of ours has ever shown any interest in skiing, although DD has a friend who seems to go practically every holiday, so possibly this will change...
