Hi

I'm totally new to this having only just joined.

My DS scored 326.009 and was hoping to go to CRGS. He is distraught, to the point of including on his Christmas list "getting over the 11+ - it won't happen".

I have completed my CAF with CRGS as our only choice. If he's unsuccessful, we will opt for an independent school since the latest Ofsted report for our catchment school said specifically that it was failing boys.

I am hoping that with an additional form and the new style exam he may be in with an outside chance through the waiting list. Fingers crossed for him - it's heartbreaking as a parent having no control over something that has had such a profound effect on your child.

Any thoughts/comments on his chances would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Sadly even taking into account the extra form and possibility of less very high scores I would think the chances are very low and its maybe best to focus on the independent option you mention.
Its awful when we can't do anything to protect our children from upsets like this but at least you are able to look at good alternatives which many parents cannot and so are able to help him in a very practical way.
Hopefully this time next year he will be thriving at whichever school he is at.
And I hope my prediction is wrong and he does indeed get a CRGS place eventually.
