CAForm 1st Preference

Post by vicky2004 »

Sorry if it is a repeat query.

Some confusion with the 1st Preference.

There are 2 11+ schools and 5 places in each school.
A School cut marks between 100 to 95, and B schools 100 to 90.

S=Student

S0=100, S1 = 99, S2= 98, S3=97, S4=96 and S5=95
S4=94, S3=93, S2=92 S1=91 and S99=90.5
- 1st Preference for Students S0 to S5 (total 6 Students) is School A and 2nd Pref is School B
- 1st Preference for Students S4 to S99 (total 5 Students) is School B and 2nd Pref is School A

Will School B become automatically 1st preference for "S5" as she/he didn't qualify for School A?
or being School B was his/her 2nd choice so S5 won't be prefered before S4 to S99 irrespective of score?

It's very late...

Equal preference system means that all a school knows is that they have a pool of applicants who have named that school somewhere on their CAF. The school ranks the applicants according to the school's published admissions criteria.

Each applicant has ranked their choices on their CAF. If they don't qualify for a place at their first choice, their second choice is regarded by their LA as their effective first choice and if they qualify for that school, they are allocated a place there. If they don't qualify, their third choice is now treated as their first, etc.

If someone puts School B first but someone who put it second is assessed by the school to come further up the school's ranking, then the second person would still get the place if they didn't qualify for the school they put first.

Hope that helps...
