advance school bus

Post by Danniburke »

Just wanted to make people aware of the school bus service to Westcliff and Southend schools run by Advance buses but arranged by a parent.

I am utterly disgusted at what has happened to us and want to make sure it doesn't happen to others.

We arranged back in May this year for our daughter to have a place on this school bus, paid the deposit to reserve it and were told payment to be made in August. We contacted them this weekend to confirm payment amount and a few other details, and got a reply yesterday informing us that we no longer have the place and will refund our deposit.

As you can imagine we are fuming, seeing as she is due to return to school on Monday!

Just wanted people to take this into consideration when dealing with this person/company.

You have still got time to book rail - with PlusBus if you would be using Southend Victoria - through the Scholars Season Ticket site if you request the express delivery service (if you are near a station at your end?).

Chalkwell on c2c (about 20 minute walk) or Southend Victoria on the Greater Anglia line, then catch a bus from the interchange outside the station (21 / 29 stops outside the school). The walk from Chalkwell is quite a lot of uphill on the way to school but you can stop off at the Co-Op for sustenance on the way and looking on the bright side, the walk back is mainly downhill :) . Plus, c2c is cheaper, so if you are anywhere near Upminster or a district line tube station, this would be your most cost-effective option (actually,I'm not sure that Chalkwell may not be the only option for the Westcliff schools, come to think of it - you can check on the website http://public.greenrailtravel.co.uk/).

We use the Maymist coaches from Gant's Hill to ShSg.The service is OK. Their coach also stops at Westcliffe
