The PE sets happen in Year 9 at CCHS. These are ability sets.
The science/DT/Art/Music sets are random, 6 girls from each form to make classes of 24 rather than 30 for practical subjects.
Not sure how this has played out with 150 girls and 5 forms.

I presume 5 girls from each form to make classes of 25. This only affects Y7 and 8 at the moment.

Cchs never set for PE in my day (90s) but did for maths and music but nothing else

Sorry to disagree but my daughter is in Year 10 at CCHS and they didn't set by ability for PE last year. This year it is determined by whether or not the girls are doing the GCSE. Groupings for all other subjects mentioned were just random in the lower years with girls from all the forms combined.
