I went to the WHSB enquiry visit this afternoon. Although the Head wouldn't be specific about numbers, he said that if an in catchment boy who had scored 303 put both Southend Grammars on his CAF, then he would almost definitely get a place.

I took that to mean, that as in previous years, not enough in catchment boys scored 303 or above to fill all the in catchment places at SHSB and WHSB.

So there will hopefully be some extra places available for OOC boys!

Direct from CSSE: A total of 5383 candidates took the test this year. 2482 were girls and 2901 were boys.

Wow over 400 more boys, that will push up the ooc scores if they all put whsb and whsb on their cafs

that means 1241 girls got 300+ and 1450 boys got 300+

211 in catchment boys passed for 2018 in take.

That's great news for the in catchment lot. How did you get that figure? Direct from CSSE?

Crazy to think that around 1,000 other passes come from OOC.

242 girls got 303+ in catchment 20 more than last year. Freeing up some extra spaces for out of catchment girls.
