Application stats for CSSE schools 2017 admission
I thought it would be useful to have stats from the CSSE school data from last year to help draw conclusions about what may happen this year.
This year we know 5383 Candidates (2901 Boys 2482 Girls) sat the exam compared to 4900 total Candidates (2600 Boys 2300 Girls).
This is an increase of
+182 Girls
+301 Boys
So applicant numbers are likely to be higher.
From looking at the published admission data from relevant counties applications last year were as follows:
SHSB:
PAN 180
(2 Health plan
117 IC
61 OOC)
Applicants 819
Score of last known allocated place: 303 (IC) 321(OOC) (Below orange cut off on 2017 guidance sheet)
WHSB:

thanks a lot, this information is very useful.
Someone has written in another topic, 211 boys passed in Southend IC this year.
Is there any similar information for girls? How many IC passed last year?

Yes this year 211 IC boys passed, so not too different to last years stats of 206.
Number of IC girls that passed this year has increased to 242 - up from 204 last year. Now obviously not every one of these may have SHSG and WHSG as a 1st choice, however this potentially means up to 38 less OOC places available compared to last year.

Hmm, that would mean cut-off would be higher than last year - possibly.Chocoholic83 wrote:Yes this year 211 IC boys passed, so not too different to last years stats of 206.

However, if 2014 IC girls passed last year, does it mean all 204 IC applied to SHSG or WHSG ?

It seems more than 2014 girls IC might have passed and only 204 applied to these schools (others might have applied to Colc or CCHS, or some might have chosen local comprehensive) - Does this make sense?

2014 IC girls passed? That's almost as many girls as took the exam altogether, IC and OOCproud_parent wrote:Hmm, that would mean cut-off would be higher than last year - possibly.Chocoholic83 wrote:Yes this year 211 IC boys passed, so not too different to last years stats of 206.

Thank you chocaholic - useful to have all the data.
You haven't put in a last known admitted score for KEGS ic. I think it is 333.73 (from Blitz's collated cut offs thread)? Or was there a lower one?

Re: Application stats for CSSE schools 2017 admission
Yes this is most definitely the case. I'm sure. It says in another thread that the IC pass rate is up by 20. So I'm guessing that 222 passed last year with 204 applying for Southend schools and 18 going elsewhere.proud_parent wrote:

Re: Application stats for CSSE schools 2017 admission
Updated, thanks! Yes, if anyone knows of any lower scores that were offered a place I will update accordingly. It's quite reassuring for those that have a borderline score that falls into the lower colour bandings, this year, to see that the majority of places offered 'eventually' last year were mostly scores in the orange cut off. A place may seem unlikely right now, but don't lose hope for a waiting list place or even a surprise on allocations day! It just means a longer, and more uncertain wait than a score in the green/high yellow zone.mum of boys wrote:Thank you chocaholic - useful to have all the data.
