Hello, can anyone help me understand what's going on with CCHS i/c waiting list. My daughter scored 106.80 and started at 8th position (i/c) on March 15th and moved to 5th position by March 29th. She is still 5th. However the collated cut-offs above show that the person who started at 4th position (i/c) on March 15th was offered a place on April 23rd. So my daughter should be 4th position now. Sad as this is, I do a quick check every day so I would have noticed if someone had moved onto the i/c list and bumped us up one (apart from the very rare scenario that someone moves onto the i/c list on the same day that some accepts a place). I don't know what to think...

All places have been filled that's how DCs are put in the waiting list. Nothing unusual about it. It is only May and in my view there are very good chances that your DS will get a place around induction day if not before that.

you're welcome. Last year , my DD was in similar situation and finally she had got offer from 4 Grammar Schools. Obviously , these are worrying moments and it will continue to trouble unless a place is confirmed. Last year at SHSG 9-10 places were offered after the start of the school in September. So, there is a lot of time and I am confident that waiting list up to 10 will be able to get a place before or just after start of the School. All the very best to you and others who are on the waiting list.

Hi, just want to say you are not alone. We are in a similar position, DD started with 12th on WL, and she is now 6th, movement seems to have stopped since early April. I tried not to ring the Southend office too often.

Thank you to all those who have posted scores. Do post waiting list positions etc. when they are released. It really does help everyone to see where the cut-offs are (and also identify any admission mistakes).

Do keep posting scores, especially borderline ones (pm me if you would rather do this anonymously). I will try to update regularly.

Thanks Blitz

Call me an idiot but some of these mean scores look really odd don't they? If the marking system is out of 60, how is the mean in some years higher than this? Even the 59.9 as a mean out of 60 is really high.

Admittedly I don't think I fully understand the standardisation calculation but I think mean is fairly straightforward.

Am I missing something?

Yes, you have missed something - because the raw scores were out of 50 for English and 40 for Maths prior to 2015 entry (actually, 38 for Maths for 2008 entry, can't remember whether there were only 38 questions on the paper or whether the CSSE had to discount two for some reason) they have been converted to percentages for all years quoted :) .
