I know last year when i was in your position my friend kindly rang Southend Council for me (I was a bit emotional!) and the lady she spoke to was really nice and gave my waiting list position straightaway on the 1st. We were 8th then a week later went up to 9th then got offered SHSG at the end of april. Hope that helps, hang in there x

Just called the admissions team at Southend council. Spoke to a very nice lady who advised that, as we're Thurrock, we have to wait until the 15th March...

On the cut-offs thread, posters seem to be saying that their emails list all their preferences and indicate the status of each preference as either "offered", "not offered" or "waiting list".
My DS preferences only show "offered" and "not offered", nothing about waiting lists. However, the Essex and Southend admissions guides both say that children are automatically added to waiting lists for higher preferences than they have been offered.

Do I need to do anything to ensure DS is on the waiting lists for Essex and Southend schools (living in Essex)? Thank you.
