Sports & Clubs
Hello every one, a newby here. Our DS has been offered a place a CRGS which we are over the moon about. He will have to travel in from Chelmsford on one of the bus services which we understand leave shortly after school finishes (around 4pm)
Given that he loves sport and is bound to join in with the various clubs, presumably he will miss the bus run?? How do the children get round this, or are the clubs during the school day? Is the train the only other alternative?
Thanks.

There is certainly a lot of homework - can be particularly hard for boys coming from state primary schools. They may need help to plan how to fit it all in.
They do need to get themselves organised so homework is handed in on time & they have correct equipment for games etc. Most staff pretty strict right from the start!
Joining one or two things that interest them is a good way to make friends but from experience would suggest your DS doesn't try to do too much right at the start or they are liable to get overloaded. Staff will give lunchtime detentions to Year 7 boys who forget homework / games kit etc so they do need to concentrate on the basics as well as the fun stuff!!!

KB, No your last post wasn't too scary, although it did ring true! Our DS is a fussy eater and even at his current school he won't eat lunch and consequently comes home exhausted and at the end of his tether.
We are banking on the fact that he will be able to choose his meal at CRGS and as a result, actually eat something for lunch so he physically has the fuel to last a full day and survive the bus journey home!
Is there a choice available for the boys at lunch time? Is there time to eat it if there all of these clubs and additional sports training? I know our DS will get to grips with all of these issues in time, but seeings as how we have you at the other end of this correspondence, it would be silly to waste the opportunity of finding out now!
Thanks again for your advise and encouragement.
