CSSE School Catchments

Post by priteshpjani »

Hi,

Can someone please help if any of the following is having priority catchment and what % they take for OC?

KEGS - King Edward VI – Grammar School
Colchester Royal – Grammar School
Southend High School – for Boys
Westcliff High School – for Boys

What I have heard is Colchester royal doen't have catchment but others have 10% of OC, not sure about it.

Thanks,

I'm not from your area, but each of the schools will have their admissions criteria on their website.

This is from the KE website:
Admission into Year 7 at KEGS is determined by the 11+ examination and our current Admissions Policy can be found below. A 12½ mile priority admissions area was introduced which took effect from the September 2013 intake - 80% of places are reserved for students who live within this area. We also increased our intake into Year 7 from 120 to 150, which took effect from the September 2015 intake.

and this has info for Southend https://www.shsb.org.uk/attachments/dow ... 4&type=pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I think the others will have info on their sites

There is a priority area address checker on the Essex County Council website for KEGS and CCHS (also a tool for checking, for which non-selective secondary - and primary - school’s Priority Admissions Area an address within the ECC boundary is in).
https://www.essex.gov.uk/topic/admissions

The Priority Admissions Area for the Southend Borough Council grammar schools consists of addresses in SS0 - SS9 inclusive (the whole of the Borough of Southend and all the surrounding postcodes).

The Colchester grammar schools do not have a PAA.

However, you do need to read the individual schools' admissions policies.
