Hi I need advice. My sister has moved to Chelmsford but her children have not received places in primary school she wanted. In that case what is the procedure. Both her children have been offered places in school that she was already dreading about as both need improvement. Both kids have not been offered same school either and reason for not getting their choice of school is that it’s oversubscribed.the other question is how would she drop both kids to different schools.

What should be done in this regard? She moved to that area for kids but now kids haven’t got the desired school Infact the ones which require improvement

For Y5 she could try to appeal by putting forward good reasons for wanting or needing a place.

The appeal will be to the admission authority (which might be the LA or the school - she will need to find out, and ask how to submit an appeal).

If the Reception class has already reached 30, there are special rules restricting the grounds for an appeal, as a result of which the chances of success are approximately zero.

Her next step should be to ask how many pupils there are in each Reception class.
