I've emailed Crypt and Tommies. Tommies will be offering tours to those who are qualified. Crypt aren't currently planning too. I can't decide whether to take DS to Crypt on the day before results as I think if he doesn't pass it will make it harder.

If you're hoping to visit after scores might be worth emailing around. We have a DD at Crypt, do I'm happy to put the school first. It's just annoying we won't know results and that there isn't a general open evening so only one parent can go

We really don't want to get our DS excited about a school until we have his results.

We have our names down for open days at STR and Marling following results and would like to visit Crypt too but we were also advised of no additional days.

I'm glad it's not just me being super-cautious! Zero chance of me EVER showing my daughter Pate's in advance. Thanks for the info, Brackenboo.
Hopefully Crypt will have a re-think...

Like others we are not struggling to pick a favourite but waiting to see if any of the schools will pick DD. We managed to do open days at DRHS, SHS and Pates in Y5 but haven’t ever managed to get a place at a Crypt open day. If it’s the case that DD qualifies there and not for the others we’ll probably put it down as a choice but it’s a shame that it hasn’t got anything on offer after results come out. If she qualifies for one of the ones we could visit then we’ll put them as a preference.

Actually, we're struggling a bit to choose (during our rare optimistic moments!). Looking ahead, does anyone with teens know where the sixth form students tend to socialise on weekends? I'm a bit fuzzy on where people actually come from and where they socialise. That might help swing it for one school over another. I heard lots from the Crypt head to the Quays for a jolly. Is DRHS also Gloucester-centric, socially? I'm not feeling positive enough to enquire about Pate's, and assuming it's more Cheltenham-based. TIA.

My DD is in y8 so not quite started proper socialising, but her friends seem to be based around Gloucester, Leckhampton, Churchdown way. There are children that travel from Cirencester, Swindon, Bristol, Tewkesbury etc in her class.

We have fully ruled out Marking from where we are as it's just too far and the day will be too long. Her year was before the Leckhampton school opened, so I do wonder if some Cheltenham parents would favour that

I have a friend who had a DD at Denmark road and they are based in gotherington and a few girls from near them go to DRHS

Hi Choppy

My son socialises with kids from Tommies, crypt and drh, at the Quays and in Chelt. We're quite local to his school, but his friends come from all over. We have found becuase of this he hasn't had any v local friends who are easy to see, apart from his old primary school friends. Still it hasn't been a big problem. It's good now they can meet somewhere independently.

Thanks so much Brackenboo and Libbyrose, that is all really helpful. We're halfway between Cheltenham and Gloucester so got it covered, hopefully.
I know they say the 14th, but I'm still (illogically) secretly hoping we'll hear on Friday, and that they meant BY the 14th...
