that's it! and nice to see it written down since have only heard it before, which makes it harder to remember.
Yes, Tipsy, for a while only though when young.

Oh I want to go and buy his tie but I don't know what house he's going to be in.

When I first started at my school (aged 7) the uniform could only be bought in Harrods doncha know! Soooooo long ago but I still remember it!

If you do venture into the shop to buy the tie, E.E, let us know what you think of the shop.

You have to walk right to the back, past the grand looking gentlemen's part, manned by grand looking gentlemen, to reach the section where the ties lie in their little wooden drawers.....

and where the little wooden chute whisks your money away.

So delighted to hear The Famous hasn't changed!

I was telling DD about buying my own senior uniform there (too many years ago to remember) ..... and secretly hoped she too would get to experience that little bit of history!

Hadn't thought of just getting the tie now though, what a lovely idea ..... DH proudly produced his old Pate's tie but she wasn't keen to wear it!

Might unwittingly bump into some of you on Saturday!

Happy proud tie-shopping to all!

just found this quote from the founder of The Famous

"Always look after the man who wants to buy a collar st ud ; he may want a shirt some day" Mr. A.N. Cole (founder)

I think that sums it up, pity more places aren't like that any more

Oh yes Cirenmum...I am looking forward to it. I bet it is like stepping back in time. Makes it all seem very Hogwarts!
