By the by, my child was not tutored (even at home) and she obtained the highest raw and standardised scores in the school in the eleven plus.

Be that as it may, the reason that we choose to pay is that we do think standards of behaviour and academic attainment at private schools are higher (this has been our experience at four different private preparatory schools).

Going back to my earlier post, we have found with both DDs that the private preparatory school they each attended meant that the whole of KS3 and much of KS4 proved to be a 'walk in the park'. The average time spent on homework by each of my DDs was approximately three hours a week whereas other pupils had to do considerably more to get the same or worse marks. Of course, some of this comes down to innate intelligence but I do think that private schools do make an impact.

To the OP, I really would think seriously about private school from year four.
