Hi I just wanted to let anyone know who's interested my friend won her appeal today for SHS for current year 7. Apparently there was one place left, back in July after appeals 129 places were given but I think only 127 or 128 took their places. So maybe someone else has appealed too.
So a word of hope to anyone mid year appeals happen.
Also friend didn't even get email for date of appeal so didn't show up, but got a place anyway based on written info.
So happy for her and wanted to share this!

Gosh. It must have been a very strong case, as appeals where the parents don't show up are harder to win than if they're present. This isn't prejudice on the part of the panel, but purely that they can't ask the parents any questions, hence draw out any further information that may help the case. The same would apply if the admissions authority didn't show up.

So will the child be showing her parents round her new school today? It's Y7 'Show your parents the school' day from 3:30 to 5 today...
