After school care at Gloucestershire primary schools?

Sorry if this is a bit off topic but thought I'd reach out to this knowledgeable forum :)

We have one child starting at grammar school in September and two children that we will be enrolling in primary school (we're currently out of the country)? Does anybody know if there is a list somewhere of primary schools that offer some kind of after school care/club (from 3:15 to 6:00pm). We are two working parents and will have to factor this in when we choose a primary school.

I've googled extensively and searched Glos council website but found nothing. If no such master list exists, I'd love to hear if anybody knows of any schools that do offer after school care.

Thanks so much!

I suggest phoning up the school and find out the child-minders who are associated with the schools. Or else ask the Gloucester County Council for the list of approved child-minders and phoning them up.

Cheers,
Dr. Watson

P.S. I need to do the same research for my DS2 in primary.

I think you will find that most primary schools offer something in this line, of variable quality but usually on site. However, if you are hoping to get 2 children into the same primary school before September you need to get your skates on- you may well need to appeal for places, and if one is of Reception age all the allocations took place some weeks ago.

At our primary, a local "after school club" (run independently of school and has its own premises down the road) collects the children and takes them onto their own nearby building. They also run a holiday club. Might be worth looking at this option too.

Thanks so much for the replies.

My children will be going in to Year 3 and Year 5, so hopefully not as much competition for places as Reception. Unfortunately, as we won't have a permanent address until August, I don't believe we can apply for places at this point.

My eldest daughter will be going to Ribston and we are hoping to live nearer to Stroud (for job accessibility), so if anybody has an specific recommendations for primary schools between Gloucester and Stroud, even as far as Nailsworth, please let me know. (Especially those likely to have places!)

Thank you!

Hi. I work at Nailsworth Primary.
Just wanted to let you know that we have before and after school care, with our "Jigsaur" club. We also have places available in Years 3 and, I think, in Year 5.
Call the school if you are interested :D

Hi all,

I'm the original poster with another question.

I've been systematically emailing all the primary schools—some have replied but many have not. And of those that have replied only a few have places for both my Year 3 boy and Year 5 girl. And of those, not all have after school care.

One school that does seem to have places is Randwick but I can't seem to find out if there's an after school club. I emailed the school but didn't hear back. If anybody knows, please could they PM me?

Apologies for the somewhat off-topic, very specific question :)

Kate
