Bus to Ribston Hall (Kingsholm 103 Route)

Hi... please bear with as I'm a newby! Been lurking for well over a year though! :)

My DD has been offered a place at Ribston - sooo pleased!! We were unsuccessful on reconsideration but received a call this week to say that a place had become available and we were first on the waiting list :)

I am investigating the transport situation and wondered if anyone could help to clarify for me...

We are moving to the Kingsholm area in the coming months and I see there is a route that picks up locally (Route/Bus 103 I believe). Can anyone confirm if we will be entitled to a free bus pass... if not, approx. how much the transport will cost???

Just one last question - how do you arrange the transport (free or not)? Do I contact the LEA once we have moved or do I apply directly to the bus company?

Thanks in advance - oh and it's great to meet you all! :)

Hi Kendoll. Congratulations on your dd gaining a place at Ribston. My dd is there and is really enjoying it. Neither us nor any of my friends are entitled to bus passes. I don't know if this is common and yes I think asking the LEA is definitely your next step (the general attitude is that we've chosen to send our kids "out of catchment", so tough!). By the look of it the one that she would need is a Megarider and costs £12.50 per week, but I assume it works out cheaper if you buy them for a longer duration. If you just go onto the Stagecoach website, you'll find out more info.

Edit: Scrub the above, it looks like the 103 isn't Stagecoach after all, so won't apply. I've never heard of it. Somebody will come along I'm sure with greater knowledge of all this than me! :D

Hi KenDoll, Stressed?Moi? is correct you need to ask the LEA if you qualify for free transport. Your other options for transport are the designated bus services. Express Travel pick up in Estcourt Road and at GL1 (used to pick up in Kingsholm Road but believe no one needs it now, so may be worth contacting Tom Dix if you would like it reinstated). We pay nearly £500 a year for this service. When you go to Ribston for your welcome introduction they may have all the transport details available (DS goes to Crypt and they had all the bus providers routes, contact details, application forms etc available). Many congrats on your lovely surprise :D
