Tommy's football/rugby boots
Does anyone know whether they need football AND rugby boots for September? Or can we get away with one or the other? I'd rather not buy both unnecessarily with our non-sporty ds' rapidly growing feet!
Thank you
Thank you

Buy one pair of either but make sure they are fitted with rugby safety studs. These are metal (no plastic) studs - if you prefer "football"boots, go for that style but change the studs - rugby studs are rounded and don't split (like football plastic or part plastic ones do) The split plastic is sharp and very dangerous on a rugby pitch.
Alternatively, just buy rugby boots and wear them for football too! (i.e. you can do it that way round but cannot just buy football and wear for rugby, without changing the studs.)

Bad parent of the year award then! My Tommies DS has just used a pair of football boots all year. I didn't know any different and nobody has checked. Oops.

But just be careful they are not forwards boots as they will have more studs.....kenyancowgirl wrote:Alternatively, just buy rugby boots and wear them for football too! (i.e. you can do it that way round but cannot just buy football and wear for rugby, without changing the studs.)

OMG, this gets worse. What are forwards boots?!!!!
Re: Tommy's football/rugby boots
They are specialist rugby boots for those that play in the front row/pack (the forwards) and tend to have more studs at the toe to give extra grip when scrummaging etc.
