Average score in Mock test/Paper's now for Pate's entry?

Hi, just confused how much a child should be scoring as average in their MOCK test and Paper's when they are aiming for Pate's?
I know that depending on paper's the score will vary according to the difficulty but anyone (experienced parent) know how much they should be scoring in CGP, Bond etc...?

Thanks in advance!

Hello
My Dd will be sitting the test next September and i believe the scores (have read through forums etc) are average 90-95%
At the moment my DD did a practice paper no revision etc just to see were we were and she scored 55% on a practice mock paper but we will be building on this but i think its worth perhaps doing a mock paper and see what the initial score is and then that will give you an idea on.

Thank you ash14. That is very high and not easy to achieve specially for CGP, Bond papers...
As the time limit for some section is quite short compare to the amount of questions they want children to finish.

I am not from your area but if it is the University of Durham CEM exam in your area (and I think from the sticky it is?) and you are using CEM style practice papers then 80% plus is good. The level of difficulty of the real CEM exam varies in different areas though.

I think you would still be with a fighting chance in the 70s and higher 60s but less than that I don't know. Again, it depends on whether the real exam in your area is comparably tougher or easier.

It is very high indeed but this all hear say and things I have read but I think someone may correct me but as its highly sort after and a super selective school I do believe its very high.
Im sure we have a few parents with children in Pates that could possible share- my friends son who started last year was scoring 90-93% in practice papers and was offered a place so I'm pretty sure its high.
I think from what I read the percentage for Stroud Grammar is about 80%

With the obvious rider that those who never manage above 40% on any kind of relevant practice paper are unlikely to be successful in the real thing, the fact that a given child was getting nigh on full marks in 'mock' exams does not indicate that that level of raw score is a prerequisite for obtaining a place at the school.

It's a bit like looking at the average UCAS points per entrant for two universities and using that as a basis for saying that the one with the higher average must be more difficult to get into.

(And yes, I do know that Pates is the one that everyone gets their Ks in a T about, but it still doesn't necessarily make the one follow the other, so to speak :)).

Agree with you ToadMum, At the end.... it relies on how they perform in the exam.
These paper's are just a rough marker which shows how they are progressing/understanding and where they need more support.

My son in his mocks was placed 142 out of 148. I nearly cried. He is however now at Tommies. I really wouldn't put too much emphasis on the mocks. I thought they were an excellent practice and way of identifying weakness, but wouldn't hold too much store in the results.

'However'?
The best result possible, surely. :D
