I'm sure plenty of local charities would appreciate your help. You could ask in the local library or go into charity shops. All sorts of options.

The train journey is a pain, but at least it would only be your DD doing it - and because you (singular, or plural?) decided that she had to go to school in Stroud, she is the one who is committed to being there five days a week for 39 weeks of the year.

However, if you insist on taking her to school yourself, perhaps you could look for a part-time job in Stroud (of course, if your DD made her own way to school, you could get a less part-time one nearer to home? :D) .
