Re: Disappointing CAT result

I agree that this isn't the end for your daughter's hopes of Pates or any Grammar. The end isn't until the 11+ is sat, results issued, places given and waiting lists gone down until the end of the summer hols.

Every year, children will pass the 11+ and will also get into Pates with CAT scores of 115 and lower. Many of the children sitting will have never done CAT scores and not know what they would achieve in such tests.

They are one indicator of possible success for 11+ and for Pates - one amongst many. If your DD is doing well with her 11+ prep and her teachers think she has a chance,N then go for it. And of course, she can list as many schools as the CAF allows anyway based on the one test.

Yes, you should put other schools down to share results with. You should do that even if CAT scores are 141. And even if CAT scores are 141 you should remain open to the possibility that Pates won't be achieved and that this isn't a disaster. And certainly, suggesting to your DD that 115 means Pates is no longer possible or a disaster has happened, really would be the disaster in I tell in terms of ruining her confidence.

Keep calm and carry on. Pates is as possible as it was yesterday....as are the other schools too.
