The only grammar school in Gloucestershire advertising currently for staff is Marling (3 jobs) so one assumes they have either got someone or are in the process of getting someone.

Pates were advertising for 3 teachers as well (Geography, English and History&Politics, but the application closing date was 06/02/18).
STR is advertising for a music teacher. All of these roles are advertised to start in September 2018.

Hopefully a suitable candidate will be appointed from the applicants being interviewed now at Ribston, as Mrs Chong has stated she wants to leave in April.

She is currently Deputy Head at Torquay Girls’ Grammar School and brings with her a wealth of experience and a clear passion for educating high achieving girls. Mrs Colombini will take up the headship of Ribston Hall following the retirement of Mrs Amanda Chong, who as our Headteacher for 20 years, will be greatly missed by staff and students alike."

She is a biology teacher by training and seems to be a relatively young person. Hopefully she will modernise some of the curriculum in years 7-8.

Just for info, here is an edited version of letter sent out today by Ribston governors:-

Mrs Chong will be starting her well-earned retirement from the 1st of May.

Mrs Colombini will be taking up her position of Headteacher from Monday 4th of June.

During the intervening period, the Governing Board has asked Mr Alec Waters (current Assistant Head teacher) to act as Headteacher from the 1st of May until the 4th of June. During this period, Mr Waters and the rest of the school’s senior leadership team will be supported by Mr Russel Ellicott, Headteacher of Pate’s Grammar school, via the Odyssey Teaching School Alliance, which is a local organisation with an exceptional track record of providing leadership support and guidance.

We are holding an open event on Saturday 21st of April from 10am – 3pm to celebrate Mrs Chong’s 20 years of Headship and give current students and parents as well as ex students and parents an opportunity to come along and join in the celebrations. We hope you are able to join us.
