Lots of really good advice - I like Amber's question about how to ask for help when stuck. I'd also ask kids who they'd turn to if they had a non-academic problem.
We have one visit lined up, and hopefully a second will be sorted out soon. My son has made lists of his own questions for each school (what is the school food like? which sports are compulsory? what are the houses like?) He is very excited about the prospect of visiting so I am hoping that one feels right for him.

I asked that question to a sixth former at one school we visited a long time back. He snorted a kind of laugh and and then rather patronisingly said, 'well, I don't think I have ever been stuck, so I don't really know to be honest!'.
