Welcome,

I believe in Gloucestershire you are given a ranking rather than a score for each school you requested to share results with.

Hopefully a local will be along shortly to confirm or set me straight! :D

The offers thread is here

This is our first time, but my understanding is that you get a ranking from each shared school and in the letter they will give you an idea of the rankings places were offered to last year so you have an idea whether your DC is likely to be offered a place.

We didn't receive ranking or score for my DS from Pate's in 2012.

You will be notified in email/letter that your DS/DD is within qualifying score and within 150 (it was 120 in 2012) rank. The waiting list starts from 151..... I think the school calls upto 175 (150 in 2012) ranks to visit the school following the release of result.

Thriny_00 We got a ranking for Pates in 2017, even though ds didn't have a qualifying rank. There is no qualifying score, just rankings. The waiting list doesn't come into force until after March 1st school places allocation day.

Pates qualified rankings to 200 in 2016 and AFAIK ended up going all the way down to 200 on allocation day. In 2017 they qualified rankings to 225 but gave rankings to all pupils? Or At least to the 600’s based upon posts on here.

Last year our results started coming out from just after 2pm on the Friday (Marling) and the other 3 grammars open to boys between 3:45pm and 4pm.

From information we received from the schools and details shared by others on this forum:

Pate's qualified the top 230 from the 1700 children that shared their result with them, however on the results day in March only those with a ranking of around 175 or above gained a place.

Sir Thomas Rich's qualified 366 from the 941 that shared their results with them. In March places were offered down to ranking 293.

Marling had 812 children share results with them and offered places to at least 340s

Crypt qualified 950 out of circa 1900 shares and offered places down to around 810 in March

Denmark Road offered down to 318 (674 shared their results)

Stroud High School offered down to 420s (817 shared their results)

Ribston qualified 570 of the 990 who shared results with them and offered down to 550.

The schools will have gone a bit lower after reconsideration and appeals but I don't have any information on how much lower.
Hope that helps make sense of the results when you receive them on Friday.
