Hi All

What are your thoughts on cancelling the direct debits for the bus while the schools are closed?

Do you still want a bus in September? I'd wait for the company to off a reduction but realistically their only saving at the moment is fuel.

I guess it depends on who provides the service. Warwickshire County Council wrote to pass holders earlier this week and asked us to send our passes back for a refund.

This is Denwell going Swindon to Gloucester. Just seems a bit inconsistent as other bus companies have told parents to stop paying.

And yes I have paid a deposit for the nxt year starting September...dont think this really affects this year.

Thanks for replying

Our Bus company has asked that we continue to pay - effectively we have signed up for a 12 month contract, just with payments split over the year, rather than paying month on month for the journeys they do that month. If we cancel now, we effectively terminate our years contract, so if the schools do go back before summer hols, then we wouldn't have a space.

I have to say I don't fall out with that, times are tough for all, and I'd rather the company managed to survive to provide the service when the schools go back.

They have said if your situation is such that you are struggling financially then to go and talk to them.

(That's IGO Bus by the way).

The bus company still needs to pay for the vehicles & pay its drivers their wages to feed their families & to keep a roof over their heads...I'm still getting paid (thankfully) & therefore i will honour my contract to them as they would be delivering a service if they could. And I'd like a bus service to be in existence in September.

If you're having financial difficulties because of the situation & you can't manage it, then the advice would be to get in touch with your bank as soon as you can as financial services companies are trying to help their customers in this unusual situation & also talk to the bus company concerned.

I'm still paying my after school childcarer even though my DD is at home with me and there is no after school care....because i'm able to manage it & i think it is the right thing to do.
