Ribston 2022
Hi everyone.
We have our eye on Ribston, obviously if my DD
Qualifies for the school but I’m wondering if anyone
has any experience? My daughter loves sport, music
and maths. Any advice would be most helpful.
She also participates in a sport outside and wondering
what schools are more flexible with them going out
to compete?

Re: Ribston 2022
Hi
Both of my daughters attended Ribston for the full seven years. One daughter was very sporty and did need to have time out of school to attend training camps and competitions overseas. The school allowed her to do this with authorised absences and altered the submission dates for homework etc. She did have to catch up on the work missed and be very organised. This was when Mrs Chong was the headteacher so I can not say whether it is the same now. I hope that this is helpful.

I really like the school and one of my DDs goes there.
Obviously no school is perfect and things will niggle slightly. One of mine is that they don’t set for Maths. My DD is very good at maths so would have preferred it if they pushed her more.

Agree. When my DD was at Ribston she was in the "top group" and everyone else was in mixed ability classes . Never understood why everyone couldn't be in ability sets. They said it was because everyone was "pushed", but those in the "top group" would take Further Maths GCSE.
