Help! Percentages!

Hi

My dc is struggling with percentages and needs to find a quik way on how to do them
Please could anyone suggest an easy simple way on how to do them

My son always divides the total by 10 first to find 10% and then works out total from there.

eg 35% of 300

10% = 30 5% = 15
30% =90

so 35% = 105

I am sure someone will tell you a much easier way but he always seems to get the correct answer fairly quickly.

Percentages is a big area of maths. Can you be more specific?

To find a percentage of a certain total:

E.g. 17% of 300

Find 1% - 300 divided by 100 = 3.

17% will be 17 x 3. This is 51.
