Factual information relating to the Gloucestershire 11+

Post by gloucestermum »

Hello all,

Following requests from forum users,I have created this "sticky".

The "sticky" is to be used for factual information only-information such as test dates, test format etc.All discussion is to remain within the normal Gloucestershire forum. That way,the sticky will hopefully be a useful addition to the Gloucestershire forum, and especially helpful to new members,

Regards,

The test in November 2008 was verbal reasoning multiple choice.

The format on the day was

10 minute warm up practice test.

Paper one, 85 questions, 45 minutes

25 minute break.

Paper two, 80 questions, 50 minutes.

In the past the questions have been of the 15 types mentioned on this site but feedback from DC sitting this year's tests suggests there may have been a move to the 21 types.

The following link will take you to the free Tutors download explaining the 21 types of verbal reasoning questions.

The children were not allowed to write on the question paper but were provided with rough paper for workings.

The answer sheets for each test were different formats.

Test 1 answer sheet was a simular format to the Bucks 12+ sheet.

See following link

Test 2 answer sheet was the same format as the GL practice papers.

I hope you will find this information useful and good luck.

The open days in 2008, and previously, for the Grammar schools were held in October.

You have to register to sit the 11+ exam during the same month.

Also the 11+ exam is currently sat at the beginning of November.

The timings are very close and it is therefore a good idea to visit the schools whilst your DC is in Y5.

We had a talk at school about secondary transfer and the woman from the Council, the "Choice Adviser," said that the scores for Tommy's and Denmark Road last year (2008) were:

Tommy's
lowest: 220
highest: 261

Denmark:
lowest: 210
highest: 269

They only had access to these since they are the school entrances administered through Shire Hall, so I can't help with Crypt / Ribston / Pates, although we've all sort of worked out that it was 250 for Pates, non?

Obviously the scores don't cross compare exactly since the cohort changes.
